Collection: Hydrosols
The volatile oils are extracted during distillation, making Hydrosols a much gentler and safer option than essential oils.
Hydrosols are suitable for a wider range of uses. As they are water based they don't need dilution and they do not affect or cause imbalances in the pH of the skin or the gut microbiome if taken internally.
Their benefits are largely due to the plants' constituents. Depending on the plant, hydrosols can be anti-inflammatory (like Chamomille and Rose), wound healing (like lavender), anti-acne (tea tree or witch hazel), supportive of respiratory system (eucalyptus and mint), great for hair and scalp health (lavender, rosemary).
Hydrosols are often used in skincare as toners, mists, or cleansers. They are also used in hair care, and can be used in food and beverage recipes too. Since they are less concentrated, they require less plant material to create, making them a more sustainable option to produce and use.
